Casale della Mentuccia is a farm in the heart of Italy and the historical region Alta Tusciea, just 100 km north of Rome. The characteristic and carefully restored stone building was established in the 19th century and has been in our family for three generations.

Casale della Mentuccia is a spacious double storey house, surrounded by 4 hectares of meadows with beautiful flowering plants and groves with tall trees. The property is adjacent to an organic olive farm and a large forest with century old oak trees and chestnut trees on the slope towards Bolsena Lake – the crater of a volcano, which was active in Roman times.

The house has been restored with great care, and all possible effort has been made to use, as far as possible, only local materials typical of the time and traditional workmanship. Thus, the house has all the modern conveniences while its character remains intact.

The traditional farmhouse is serene and magical as it rises out of the surrounding greenery and the scent of thousands of flowers. The avenue leading up to the farmhouse is shaded by ancient oak trees and is not far from the road that leads to the village of Marta from Montefiascone. The farmhouse is at the top of a rise, 550 metres above sea level.

From the farmhouse, there are breathtaking views of the medieval town of Montefiascone, with the Basilica of Santa Margherita and its dome from the 17th century (the third largest in Italy!), and of the ruins of Rocca dei Papi. Further on, the views reveal Umbria and the Tolfa Mountains, and the plains around Viterbo and the Cimini Hills. You can even see all the way to the quiet mirror of Lake Bolsena and its beautiful islands Martana and Bisentina. Looking due west on a clear day, you can see all the way to the wine districts in Maremma, and the promontory Monte Argentario surrounded by the glittering Tyrrhenian sea.

The property comprises two apartments, decorated with a mixture of elegance, care and exquisite simplicity. The apartments are completely separate but can be united by an indoor staircase. Ideal for several families or a group of friends, for events, feasts and special occasions.
